The third and final fixture of this term was at Dragon School. Bea finished 6 th overall in her Y6 race. Charlotte was the first to cross the finishing line, coming in 10 th in the Year 5 race. Once again Isabel was our fastest Year 4 runner, finishing in 26 th place. More schools enter this event so the numbers of participants in the other age groups were greater. The second fixture was at Manor Prep but we didn’t enter a Year 3 team. Lyra finished 2 nd in the Year 3 race, Isabel finished 10 th in the Year 4 race, Charlotte was 3 rd in the Year 5 event and Bea was our best placed Year 6 runner, finishing in 8 th place. The first was at Rye St Antony and all four age groups were represented. There have been three cross country fixtures this term. The fastest six girls in each age group have been selected to represent Oxford High Prep School. The girls have been running laps of the football pitches, either trying to complete as many laps as possible, doing interval training, or trying to complete a set number of laps as quickly as possible. The club practices have taken a variety of formats. Swim squad takes place at the same time which has enabled some of the girls to run for some of the time and then go into the pool and swim for the remainder of the swim squad session. We have regularly had over 40 girls attending on Tuesdays after school, aged between Year 3 and Year 6. Cross Country club has been very successful this half term.
